2026 H1 Top 10 Chinese Residential Energy Storage Cell Brands by Shipments

China’s residential energy storage market is growing quickly, but one distinction matters before any ranking is used for procurement: a battery cell brand is not the same thing as a finished home-storage battery or a complete ESS brand.

This article focuses on Chinese battery cell brands associated with residential energy storage shipments in the first half of 2026. It then looks at the manufacturing footprint, buyer fit and product-supply relevance behind each name.

The ranking should be read as a global shipment view of Chinese brands, not as an independently verified ranking of batteries installed inside mainland China. Public sources do not currently disclose a complete, authoritative China-domestic residential cell ranking on a like-for-like basis.

Important scope noteThis ranking uses the customary residential-storage boundary of a single unit up to approximately 16 kWh, covering family PV storage and backup applications. The public TrendForce ranking is a global residential energy-storage cell shipment ranking by brand. It is not a domestic-China sell-in ranking and should not be presented as one.

Position 10 requires special care. TrendForce’s direct global residential-cell top ten includes LG at position 9 and BYD at position 10. After removing the non-Chinese LG position, the report has nine Chinese brands directly supported by that table. Hithium is included here as an extended candidate based on its storage-cell scale and specialization, but its residential-cell shipment position is not separately disclosed in the cited public ranking.

How this ranking was built

The ranking follows a cell-focused methodology rather than mixing cell, battery-pack and system shipments.

  1. Time period: January–June 2026.
  2. Application scope: Residential energy storage, with a customary single-unit boundary of approximately 16 kWh for family PV and backup use.
  3. Product scope: Battery cells used in residential ESS. Finished batteries, inverters, all-in-one systems and project-level system shipments are not treated as cell shipments.
  4. Primary ranking source: TrendForce’s August 14, 2026 report on global residential energy-storage cell shipments. It reports more than 53 GWh of residential cell shipments in the first half, up 113% year on year, with the top ten accounting for approximately 94% of the market.
  5. Cross-check: SNE Research’s August 3, 2026 end-use view is used as a cross-check. Its residential-storage total and company shares are not identical to TrendForce’s scope, so the two sources are not added together.
  6. Chinese-brand filter: LG is not included in the Chinese-brand list. BYD is retained as a Chinese brand, resulting in a Chinese subset of the direct TrendForce list.

The practical conclusion is simple: positions 1–9 are the defensible Chinese subset of the cited direct ranking; position 10 is a procurement-oriented extension that needs separate verification before it is used in a formal supplier comparison.

1. REPT BATTERO (瑞浦兰钧)

REPT BATTERO is the highest-ranked Chinese brand in the cited first-half residential energy-storage cell ranking. Its position is important because the company is not only a cell label: it has built a large manufacturing platform around energy-storage cells, battery materials and vertically connected production.

REPT BATTERO operates production bases in Wenzhou, Jiashan, Liuzhou, Foshan and Chongqing, with an Indonesia base also being developed. The manufacturing network is built around large-scale intelligent production, MES process control and automated cell testing. Its Wending platform covers energy-storage applications, including residential ESS, with cell formats moving from 280Ah toward newer 314Ah and 320Ah products.

The scale and multi-site footprint make REPT suitable for larger sourcing programs, but the quotation still needs to identify the exact production site, cell model, certification package, thermal limits and traceability record. A brand-level ranking does not prove that every factory, cell format or batch has the same qualification status.

2. Great Power (鹏辉能源)

Great Power ranks second in the cited TrendForce residential-cell view. The company is especially relevant for buyers who want to evaluate the connection between cell manufacturing and finished energy-storage products rather than treating the cell as an isolated component.

Founded in 2001, Great Power has built a cell-to-system manufacturing network covering residential ESS, commercial and industrial storage, utility storage, UPS and portable applications. Its manufacturing footprint includes production facilities in Guangzhou, Quzhou, Changzhou, Qingdao, Zhuhai, Henan, Foshan and Liuzhou, alongside overseas operations. The portfolio runs from battery cells to complete storage systems rather than stopping at cell production.

That integration is useful when the buyer needs a cell source familiar with BMS communication, thermal management, enclosure integration and certification testing. The exact cell model, plant of origin, production date, transport documents, warranty boundary and product level still need to be stated in the quotation.

3. EVE Energy (亿纬锂能)

EVE Energy ranks third in the direct residential-cell ranking. It is one of the most visible Chinese battery manufacturers across consumer, power and energy-storage applications, with a dedicated energy-storage manufacturing platform.

EVE’s Jingmen, Hubei manufacturing cluster includes the 60 GWh Super Energy Storage Plant Phase I. The site is designed for large-format energy-storage cells and incorporates digital production, automated inspection and full-process traceability. EVE has also moved the 628Ah Mr Big cell into mass production, extending its large-cell platform for high-volume storage demand.

The plant signals high-volume energy-storage capacity rather than a small-batch residential-only operation. Large-format cells used in grid or commercial applications should not automatically be described as residential cells, so the final quotation must identify the cell generation, production site, warranty terms and approved system integrators.

Best for: Buyers seeking a large-scale energy-storage cell platform and a clear cell-to-product qualification path.

4. Gotion High-tech (国轩高科)

Gotion ranks fourth in the direct residential-cell ranking. It is a useful example of why a cell-brand ranking should be read together with manufacturing depth: the business covers materials, cells, packs, energy-storage systems and BMS rather than a single standalone cell product.

Headquartered in Hefei, Gotion operates an integrated battery business covering lithium-ion materials, cells, power packs, ESS packs and BMS. Its manufacturing and R&D network extends through Hefei, Nantong, Qingdao, Tangshan, Liuzhou, Yichun and overseas locations. The Jinzhai base has also been positioned around zero-carbon LFP energy-storage manufacturing, giving the company a factory story that goes beyond cell assembly.

For residential storage, that structure is useful when the buyer needs a cell supplier that understands pack design, BMS and system integration. The quotation should still distinguish Gotion-direct supply, an authorized channel and a downstream assembler using Gotion cells, because warranty and traceability responsibilities can differ.

5. Cornex New Energy (楚能新能源)

Cornex ranks fifth in the direct TrendForce residential-cell ranking. Its product portfolio is built around energy-storage cells, battery systems and related applications, including home energy storage.

Based in Xiaogan, Hubei, Cornex has positioned its manufacturing and product portfolio around energy-storage cells, grid ESS and home storage. Its current energy-storage range includes cell and system families such as PF288-588A, PF173-314A and PF160-100A, with home ESS, telecom, grid and outdoor-storage applications. Certification and cycle-life figures still need to be matched to the exact model and test report.

Cornex is therefore best evaluated through a model-specific check covering chemistry, nominal and usable energy, operating temperature, cycle-test conditions, certification scope, warranty, factory of origin, mass-production status and export readiness.

6. Pylontech (派能科技)

Pylontech ranks sixth in the direct residential-cell ranking and is one of the most recognizable ESS-focused names in the list. Unlike a diversified battery group, Pylontech is closely associated with energy storage and has developed a broad storage product stack.

Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Shanghai, Pylontech focuses almost entirely on energy storage. Based in Xiamen, Ampace connects cell, pack and system development across residential storage, C&I storage and data-center applications. 8. Ganfeng LiEnergy (赣锋锂电)

Ganfeng LiEnergy ranks eighth in the direct TrendForce residential-cell ranking. Its main differentiator is the wider Ganfeng lithium chain, which connects lithium resources and refining with battery manufacturing and recycling.

That upstream-to-downstream chain is the company’s main manufacturing differentiator.

The integrated chain is relevant for buyers who want upstream lithium exposure and a defined battery-manufacturing organization. It does not prove that every Ganfeng cell model is available for residential export, so the cell model, production site, export entity, warranty issuer and finished-battery approval still need to be named.

Best for: Buyers evaluating an integrated lithium-to-battery supply chain and storage-cell alternatives.

9. BYD (比亚迪)

BYD is the ninth Chinese brand in this filtered list. This position is derived from the Chinese subset of TrendForce’s global residential-cell top ten: BYD appears in the direct list, while the higher-listed LG position is excluded because this article is limited to Chinese brands.

Factory and manufacturing profile

BYD’s battery manufacturing chain spans materials, cells, packs, energy-storage applications and recycling. Its large-scale iron-phosphate battery production gives the group a deep manufacturing base, while the energy-storage business links cell technology with complete battery and system products.

BYD’s scale is a strong reason to include it in a Chinese cell-brand review, but scale should not be confused with open-market availability. Some BYD products move through integrated solutions or approved partners rather than as freely interchangeable merchant cells. A distributor or pack assembler should confirm the supply entity, cell approval, warranty route and after-sales support before treating a quotation as a cell offer.

Best for: Buyers with a strong preference for a vertically integrated battery group and a defined product channel.

10. Hithium (海辰储能) — supplemental candidate, not a directly disclosed residential-cell rank

Hithium is included as the tenth name in this extended Chinese-brand comparison, but it must not be described as a directly verified TrendForce residential-cell top-ten position. The cited public material supports Hithium’s scale and storage specialization; it does not separately disclose a residential-cell shipment position comparable to positions 1–9.

Factory and manufacturing profile

Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Xiamen, Hithium has built its energy-storage manufacturing network around large-format LFP cells and modules. Its Chongqing Southwest Intelligent Manufacturing Center is planned for 56 GWh of cell capacity and 22 GWh of module capacity. In January 2026, the Chongqing base became the world’s first Lighthouse Factory in the energy-storage battery sector, using more than 40 digital solutions across AI, machine learning and AIoT. Hithium is also developing an energy-storage base in Heze, while its Texas site is focused on module and system assembly rather than cell production.

Hithium is therefore a meaningful supplier to investigate for large-format storage cells or a storage-specialist manufacturing partner. It is not evidence that Hithium ranked tenth in residential-cell shipments during the first half of 2026. The target cell, production line, export availability, MOQ, certification scope and product level must be confirmed.

Best for: Large-format energy-storage programs that need a specialist LFP cell manufacturer.

What this means for buyers

The ranking is useful for building a first supplier longlist, but it is not a purchase order. A shipment position answers only one question: which brands had meaningful shipment scale within the stated source scope. It does not answer whether a specific cell is available, certified, compatible with a target inverter, covered by a usable warranty or suitable for a particular country.

Before requesting a quotation, define:

  • cell chemistry and format;
  • nominal capacity, voltage and usable energy at pack level;
  • residential system size and inverter compatibility;
  • target market and required certifications;
  • expected annual volume and first order quantity;
  • delivery terms, production site and export entity;
  • warranty issuer, service route and replacement policy.

The most important document check is to connect the cell to the finished battery. The cell brand on a datasheet may not be the brand responsible for the complete system. A factory name may describe the group rather than the actual production site. A cycle-life number may be a laboratory claim under a test condition that does not match the installed system.

Which Chinese cell brand should you evaluate first?

The highest-ranked brand is not automatically the best supplier for every project. The shortlist should change according to product level, order size and the amount of system integration support required.

  • cycle-life test conditions and end-of-life definition;
  • UN38.3, IEC, UL, CE or other destination-market documents;
  • BMS communication requirements and approved system list;
  • warranty issuer, service route and replacement terms;
  • current production status, MOQ and lead time.

The most common sourcing error is comparing unlike products: a manufacturer’s cell, an OEM’s module and a branded 15 kWh home battery may all appear in the same conversation, but they carry different prices, responsibilities and certification boundaries.

Is this a ranking of battery manufacturers in China?

No. It is a cell-brand ranking for residential energy-storage applications, based primarily on global shipment data associated with Chinese brands. Finished home batteries, inverters and full ESS projects are not interchangeable with cell shipments.

Is this a ranking of residential battery shipments inside China?

No. The cited public ranking is global. A complete, directly comparable China-domestic residential cell ranking is not publicly disclosed in the same format, so the article does not present this list as domestic-China sales data.
